Originally created for a printing company situated in London, this project underwent significant changes when it was acquired by a larger printing company in 2009. Throughout its existence, the project primarily focused on the creation of machinery designed to automate the preparation and sorting of mail. However, with the advent of digital communication, traditional printed mail has gradually given way to more advanced forms of information exchange. As a result, the project shifted its focus to the development of cutting-edge devices capable of efficiently tracking and processing packages, as opposed to letters.
Additionally, the company has been actively exploring innovative methods to digitise physical mail and effectively manage the resulting electronic files. By doing so, it aims to assist offices in reducing or even eliminating their reliance on paper documents.
The final application & solution
We pride ourselves on being able to supply Miniature DC Gearmotors that are suited to a range of different purposes while requiring minimal maintenance. Our team were able to create a state-of-the-art solution that met the individual demands of our client.
Despite the company's diversification, there continues to be a significant demand for machines that fold paper mail and insert it into envelopes. This demand primarily stems from organisations such as councils and banks. While Rotalink's gearmotors may not possess the required power to drive the primary conveyors in these machines, they play a crucial role in the mechanisms responsible for transferring letters between different stages. Additionally, Rotalink gearmotors are utilised in the actuators that execute the folding and envelope-inserting process.
